“Ideas for art flow easily. With joy I bring the ideas to fruition.” ~ Bettye Barclay
Mom said I was the “artist” in the family. Who me? An “artist?” I can’t draw like successful artists, so how can I possibly be an artist?
This was and still is my thought process ever since I was a kid who mom really considered an “artist.”
Lately, I’ve been wondering if mom saw something in me I didn’t. I wrote a children’s story I love and it has led me to wonder if I could possibly draw the pictures too.
Who me? Couldn’t be. Then who?
My quick solution: Hire an illustrator & get this over with.

But the fun, kid artist in me keeps saying, “No, make this story all your own creation and then share it with friends & family this Christmas.”

Me: “Gulp. Ok. I’ll try. But it probably won’t look that good.”
Kid: “Come on, let’s do it! It doesn’t have to be perfect! It’ll be fun!”
Me: “Really? Ok. Maybe tomorrow I’ll start drawing.”

Kid: “Not another maybe! I’m tired of waiting for you.”
Me: “All right. Tomorrow I will start one little part of a picture. I don’t have to finish it. Just start.
Kid: “Yippee! I can’t wait!”

Me: “Who me? Could be!” 😊
