Closing Doors

When one door closes, another opens. ~ Alexander Graham Bell

Old doors are closing.

Letting go of my adult kids, my old home, my past 40 years here in LA.

Yes, even a dear old friend here in LA, despite our reassurances to visit & stay in touch, our relationship is also changing.

I am being prepared for the next level of my journey,

returning to my green homeland,

Oregon.

Life seems to be lightening my load before I embark.

It’s bittersweet as I let go

and grieve

what was

before

what will be.

In transition

I remind myself, a new life waits for me ~

Northwest Beauty

Old friends & new friends

My sister & her family

A quaint Art Center

A charming downtown

A bakery

A book store

A museum

A theatre

Farmers Markets

Berry picking

Everywhere green, green, green

The trees

The rivers

The mountains

The Coast

And

The Seasons ~

Cool, warm Summer breezes

The smell of pine

Bluebirds & robins, owls & osprey

Giant oaks and lofty Douglas Firs

Swim suits and watermelons

Yellow river boat rafts …

Then Autumn’s golden leaf splendor

The crunch of leaves,

orange pumpkins,

abundant harvest,

hot apple cider on a chilly fall day,

the smell of rain quenching the thirsty summer soil ~

Next, cozy grey Winter wanders in ~

Naked trees stand tall piercing the sometimes crystal blue sky

The cold of rain, wind, ice, snow

Hot cocoa & a book by the fire

Board games with friends

Thanksgiving feasts

Laughter and hugs

Candles & lights

Cards and phone calls

Christmas music & ancient carols

The smell of cinnamon & cloves

Pies baking in the oven

Sweet togetherness

Weathering the winter cold.

Finally, long awaited Spring surprises

Tiny green leaves bud on dead trees

Crocus burst thru the snow

green leaves then purple gems

defiant of winter’s ways

The snow recedes

Into water and rain

Father Sun takes center stage

warming the land again

And all of Mother Nature rejoices!

Pink white blossoms bursting

Daffodils radiating sunlight

Tulips turning upward to color the sky

Hyacinths compete with their knockout purple smell

Robin redbreast

And the birds

like proud trumpets

announce the change,

Spring has returned!

So like the Seasons, am I.

I change & so does everyone around me

I may not have the close knit family

That once kept me very busy

But I am free

To be me

Completely.

We will see

What will be

As new doors open for me

But for today,

I am

Writing

Poetry!

😊❤️
